Chapter Eight

“I swear to God I’ll kill that man!”

Scarlet stomped into the room, rubbing her arms as she shivered amidst the layers of clothing, wondering if she’d ever be warm again.

Roman moved in behind her, tugging her against his chest as he curled his arms around her. “Now, now, darling. We can’t go around killing everyone who pisses you off. We’d never have time for anything else.”

“Very funny.” She elbowed him and was rewarded with a muted grunt. “And I’ll be satisfied with just him.”

Aiden stepped in front of her, pressing his chest against hers as he helped rub her arms. “Nick is only following Glade’s instructions. You’re Ms. December. He wants photos of you out in the snow.”

“It’s not being out in the snow that bothers me. It’s having to do it dressed in a freaking red bustier and a thong!”

“The photographer did allow you a nice set of velvet boots and hat.”

“And don’t forget that muff.” Roman gave her a squeeze. “Oh the things we could do to you with that soft piece of fur.”

“Fuck off. Both of you.” She tried to tug out of their embrace, sighing when she did little more than rub her hard nipples against Aiden’s chest. Fuck. They were still sore from being puckered for over an hour, and she wasn’t sure she could take any additional stimulation.

Aiden tsked her. “I’m guessing you don’t have much of a sense of humor right now. Fine. You cuddle with Roman, and I’ll run you a bath. Quickest way to get warm.”

She huffed, though she could tell by the way Aiden flashed her a sloppy grin he knew it was just for show. Roman shifted his hands, scooping her up and carrying her to the bed. He placed her gently on top then methodically removed her clothes. Shivers raked through her, and she was certain her skin had a blue tinge to it.

“Damn. You look like a fucking Smurf.” He grabbed a soft fleece blanket off the end of the bed and wrapped her in it. “And you won’t have to kill Nick. I swear if that camera boy adjusts your breasts one more time, I’ll shove that lens up his ass.” He pulled her back onto his lap after sitting on the edge. “It’s bullshit that you weren’t showing enough cleavage. I could see your nipples from across the fucking lawn.” He hissed out a breath, fluttering her hair around her face. “I know all the checks we’ve done on him and the other staff have some back clean, but…something feels off about him. It’s as if he’s over attentive one minute then acting as if he can’t stand to touch you the next. And Ms. November wasn’t much better.”

“Candi?”

“She’s nothing like candy, darling.”

Scarlet laughed. “No, I think her name is Candi. At least, that’s what it sounded like when Nick called her over. She’s quite secretive, though I can’t blame her. If I’d been smart, I would have picked a different first name.”

“Hey. We all know the first rule of being undercover is to stick as close to the truth as possible.
